Set between the mountains and the sea, Granada will offer you its great architectonic richness and its incredible atmosphere resulting from its culture mix: an unforgettable city!
The most Arabic city of the Iberian Peninsula, Granada has become one of the most visited Andalusian capitals thanks to the beauty of its architecture and the pulse of its heart. The magic of the city, sung by hundreds of writers and poets from time immemorial, seduces the visitor who strolls through its ancient quarters full of History and histories, like the “Albaicín” or the “Sacromonte”, where Time stopped centuries ago, where people live to the gentler rhythm marked by Nature, present in every corner.
It is impossible to talk about Granada without mentioning its pearl: the Alhambra. The visitor carries in his mind the picture, seen a thousand times, of the Alhambra set against the mountainous background of the Sierra Nevada. Praised by the chronicle writers, travellers throughout the centuries have testified to its beauties, “patent, but hidden”, as an Arabic inscription reads; hidden but easy to encounter in its alleys and small squares, its landscapes and its people. It looks as if the Alhambra had emerged from the very earth like a prolongation, as if it had been erected by the gods.
However, when night falls Granada turns into a warm and dazzling city thanks to its inhabitants and to the numerous students who make the street their home. Every night, young people meet on top of the city walls of the Albaicín, looking over Granada and the illuminated Alhambra, to play the guitar and sing flamenco: it is such a magic feeling, you should not miss these impromptu “fiestas” at any cost.
In Spring and in Summer, Granada hosts countless festivals. The ceremonies, processions and “corridas” (bull fights) at “Corpus Christi” are famous. In May, there is the International Theatre festival; in June, the International Music and Dance Festival.
